Trump Scraps Plan to Send Federal Troops to Northern California
The President has scrapped preparations for a deployment of government forces to the San Francisco Bay Area that had triggered extensive opposition from local authorities and brought activists gathering in the public areas.
Area Concern Over Potential Government Operation
The area had been concerned after information emerged that the government was poised to send approximately 150 border control and additional officers to the military facility in across the Bay, as part of a major legal compliance plan.
Executive Action Following Conversations
However, the national leader announced he would not proceed with a “escalation” of government personnel in the area after meeting with the local official, city leadership, and tech industry executives including Marc Benioff and Nvidia chief.
“In that conversation, the president informed me explicitly that he was terminating all arrangements for a federal deployment in San Francisco,” Lurie stated in a release.
